Born in Auckland in 1965. Raised on farms in south and west Auckland, Neville also spent 18 months living in Samoa when he was 10. The exposure he had to Polynesian imagery and to the grass roots practical kiwi lifestyles are evident in much of his work.
Neville left school in his 6Th form year keen to conquer the world. In his first job he spent a year designing embroideries learning to program
computers in the days when it was all mylar tape and punch cards and buoyed with the impetuosity of youth and too much ego left this job to “try new things”.
This meant next, starting and lasting a year in a hairdressing apprenticeship, glazing glasshouses, managing a feed store in a saddlery and many other unimpressive jobs. Neville’s interest in people drew him to service type industries and eventually to retail. Managing lighting stores and then consumer electronics shops led to a regional managers position where he learnt both people management and planning skills. Headhunted by an Auckland based engineering firm to manage their sales team Neville spent 5 more years learning all aspects of business, from his entry in sales he moved into production then product design and development.
In 1995 Neville decided it was time to follow his dream to be a full time Artist.
