After earning his BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from the Maine College of Art in 2000, Farrell Ruppert settled in Deer Isle, where he worked as a bench jeweler and a frequent shop assistant at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. After establishing his forge, he began focusing on architectural commissions and sculpture using forged and fabricated metals.
His work often balances aggressive, challenging forms with gentler, organic shapes, resulting in sculpture of whose quiet expressiveness belies their imposing heft and substance.
