I was raised on a farm in southwest Saskatchewan where I studied piano, singing, clay sculptures, dance, gymnastics, sewing, painting and worked to develop my equestrian skills. Through my farm background, I became very familiar with relationships between mechanical structure, strength, design and function. It was an environment where I learned to collaborate with others to create; learned how to use basic tools and experiment.
At an early age, I began to recognize the beauty of vintage wood and furniture. I have since made many piles (of what would appear to be firewood) into works of art I enjoy taking discarded wood that others see as useless and making it into an artistic, functional piece of quality furniture or other functional piece. Through custom wood working, I am exposed to new types of furniture, design and ideas – I enjoy the synergy of working with others to make something unique.
I have a wood working shop in Swift Current, Saskatchewan where I enjoy continuously developing my skills, learning new techniques and expressing my ideas and of course…purchasing new tools!
