Marta Blanc Jakobcova was born in 1965 in the heavy-industry town of Sokolov, Czech Republic. She graduated from Prague University of Chemical Technology as a specialist in measuring devices. She then worked as graphic director for two Czech computer magazines in Prague and travelled the world learning to negociate with chaos. Since 2000 she lives in Geneva, Switzerland and works as a visual artist and webdesigner. She has had several solo exhibits in France, Switzerland and Czech Republic.
Her attraction for opposites and the dilemna between art and technique are the instigators for her explorations of all possibilities of alliances, resulting in a sometimes surprising combination of materials. She thus creates a delicate and contrasting universe, where the visual elements blend together in a oniric world.
The artist describes her creative approach as «very mixed technique», which includes superimposing image transfers onto putty, acrylic paint, calligraphy, engraved writing, collage of diverse papers, natural pigments, rust, stamps into many many layers.
